I have used about a half-dozen home office printers over the 10 years or so. The most recent comparison is the Epson 645 vs the HP Officejet 4500 All-in-One (CB867A#B1H) to see which I liked better and which has the best functionality. I also own the Epson Workforce 635 printer, which seems very, very similar to the 645. However, both products are completely excellent. Set-up – I was never able to get the HP Officejet 4500 Wireless All-in-One (CN547A#B1H) to work with my network….admittedly the HP 4500 has a wireless version but I haven’t used it. The HP 4500 was a bit clunky to set-up, but it was a doable. In Comparison the Epson WorkForce 635 Color Inkjet All-in-One (C11CA69201) was an absolute breeze to set-up (at least on my Mac) – it took less than 10 minutes and that includes set-up through my network so that I could print wirelessly. Print Quality – The Epson WorkForce 645 Wireless Printer with Scanner, Copier and Fax (C11CB86201) is excellent for black-and-white and very solid for color. It is better than the HP 4500 in terms of print quality. I wouldn’t say that it is a high-end photo printer but it does do reasonably well. Also, it is important to note that the Workforce 645 will double-side print.
